West Bromwich Albion currently occupy top spot in the Championship as the halfway stage of the season rapidly approaches.

The Baggies have amassed 49 points from 22 matches, scoring a league-high 45 goals. This has resulted in them opening up a gap of 12 points to those outside of the automatic promotion places.

Slaven Bilic will undoubtedly be hoping that his side remain in such a strong position going into the new year.

The turn of the decade could actually see the return of West Brom to the promised land of the Premier League and their chances to remain in such a healthy spot could soon be bolstered.

Bilic’s first-choice left-back Kieran Gibbs is currently out with a hamstring injury he suffered against Birmingham City last time out.

The Express & Star revealed that the 30-year-old will not feature this weekend when the Baggies host Brentford at the Hawthorns but he will return to training next week ahead of the festive run-in.

Gibbs has only played eight league games this season having suffered from a toe problem earlier in the campaign so either Conor Townsend or Nathan Ferguson will have to deputise for the time being.
